Who I Am

I bring over a decade of experience as a Cultural Architect working at the intersection of story, strategy, community, and education. My work spans Black foodways, cultural studies, media, entrepreneurship, and spirituality—and across every project, platform, or classroom, I stay rooted in one truth: clarity and transformation emerge when we honor the stories, strategies, and communities that shape us.

I’ve worked with nonprofit founders and small business owners, taught in university classrooms, advised executive leaders in secular and faith sectors, and helped build movements that shift how we see ourselves and each other. Whether I’m sitting across from a visionary with a brand-new idea or consulting with an established organization navigating transition, I understand what it means to build from scratch—and how to do it with intention and in community.

What I Do

As the creator of The Food Truck Scholar—a podcast and research platform that has reached listeners in more than 100 countries—I built an international community around food, culture, and entrepreneurship. That legacy continues to shape how I approach cultural storytelling and innovation today.

Through my signature consulting service, Idea Therapy™, I partner with mission-driven individuals to get clear, get unstuck, and design aligned strategies that reflect who they are and what they’re building. This isn’t coaching—it’s collaborative problem-solving rooted in lived experience and cross-disciplinary insight.

I also developed Kitchen Table Pedagogy, a food-centered teaching model that uses recipes, meals, and communal storytelling as pathways to belonging, memory, and transformation.

Whether launching something new or reimagining what already exists, my work weaves story and strategy into frameworks that are clear, grounded, and sustainable.

Currently, I serve as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Entrepreneurship at Wake Forest University, with courtesy appointments in African American Studies and at the University of Florida’s Center for Arts, Migration + Entrepreneurship. My academic work complements my consulting by bridging theory, practice, and community-centered innovation.
